The traumatic events of my life are not my fault, nor do they define who I am. Mental healing, for me, has come from letting go of the hurt and shame that I feel towards the past, and this means no longer talking about these events as if they define me. Today’s affirmation is putting a focus on letting go and directing my mental health recovery towards things that really matter – moving forward matters! My affirmation for today is: “I am more than my trauma!” This serves as a powerful mental reminder that I am not defined as a victim, but I can enhance the quality of my days by reminding myself that I am, in fact, separate from my past hurts. I know that there are many others who go through a mental battle daily, and I would love to encourage them to move past the pain towards mental healing.
